Letter from a Fellow Crew Member--Harry

Jessie is the third from the left

August 26, 1945

My Dear Mrs. Whisenant,

Yes, Harrry thought an awfully lot of Jesse and sat down twice to write and said Mother I just don't have the heart to write when I was spared and Jesse had to go. Five of them including Harry were badly shot up by fighters before they bailed out of the plane, they each helped each other as much as possible. They were put in a truck and driven to a small hospital. Jesse died shortly after they arrived there. Harry said he had a Christian burial and he knew he was buried there. He said he was a truely hard fighter, a brave clean boy and was bright and quick in his love of work. He would cry when he talked about him.
