GROOVE-BILLED ANI (CROTOPHAGA SULCIROSTRIS)

 

The Groove-Billed Ani is a very strange looking bird. It is an all-black bird with a long tail. The ani has a flat, deep ridged beak. It flaps its short wings rapidly and then glides along. When landing, its tail flies up over its head. These loose movements make the bird look as if it is falling apart.
